Luke wrote this book to a man named Theophilus. Some translations follow their own culture's way of addressing a letter and write "Dear Theophilus" at the beginning of the sentence. Theophilus means "friend of God" (See: [[rc://en/ta/man/translate/translate-names]])

Step 3: Blind Draft
  • PURPOSE: to review the chunk of scripture and Notes and then "blind translate" the Note in the target language.
  • Read the scripture and Note, keeping the context of the whole chapter mind.
  • Think through the scripture and Note in the target language.

  • Switch back and forth between the "Read" and "Translate" tab as much as needed.
  • As much as possible, translate phrase by phrase and not word for word, to preserve naturalness of the target language.
  • Type or copy and paste the scripture, and then translate the Note that goes with the scripture on the next line.
  • Format the text by clicking the line you want to format, and then click the format icon ( ) and select the size text for that line.
    1. Scripture select: "Header 1."
    2. Translated Note select: "Normal."
    3. For Book and Chapter Intro use the following format: Introduction – Header 1, Part – Header 2, Titles - Header 4, Notes – Normal.
  • No need to translate links.
  • Click "Yes, I did" and "Next step" to move to the next chunk, until the chapter is completed.
